Renovations to the Bunkroom and Computer Lab 2/9/08

After a months of planning the bunkroom renovation project has begun.  In approximately two weeks the new bunkroom will be operational with new layout (expansion), carpet, , sheet rock, electric, storage space, hvac, and lockers.  In the summer the department will be renovating the existing game room and making it into a state of the art computer lab / study room. 

 

Lt. Marshall Starts the Police Academy 

 

 

Congratulations to Lieutenant Dave Marshall who has been hired by Bensalem Township Police Department and recently started the Police Academy.  Lt. Marshall decided to leave his cushy job as a high school teacher (summers and weekends off) to serve and protect Bensalem Township. Good Luck Dave we are all proud of you. 

 

 

 

NFD Members Honored By American Red Cross

Crew from Engine 65 of the Nottingham Fire Department, Bensalem, PA. Fire Rescue Heroes: This group showed tremendous teamwork and bravery in firefighting and rescue operations at the Franklin Commons Apartments in Bensalem Township.  They found Mr. Patrick, who was trapped and unconscious in a rear bedroom and brought him to help and safety in very severe fire conditions.

Congratulations to Bob & Jen Race on the birth of their daughter Carolyn Marie Race (7lb, 10oz). Their firstborn child was born May 1st at 12:50am adding to the May birthday list. The officers and members of the Nottingham Fire Department wish the Race family well.

Bensalem Township Memorial Day Parade (5/26/08)

 

 

1st Annual NFD Fishing Trip (08/15/08)

Twelve members of the NFD took sail on the Norma-K Fishing Boat Friday Night August 15th for the 1st Annual NFD Blue Fishing Trip off the coast of New York.  Even though a severe thunderstorm rolled through with 60 + mph winds, driving rain and lighting it was a great time. FF Mike "SKI" Sekulski captured the title with 6 Blues, with Papa Spoons and Nick Paqualone (BC 16) close behind with 4 Blues a piece.

 

 

In Memory of Joseph "Lucky" Lambing (1941-2008)

It is with deep regret the officers and members of the Nottingham Fire Department announce the death of past chief and life member Joseph "Lucky" Lambing who passed away on Sunday July 27, 2008.

Lucky joined the NFD in 1960. He held the following offices:

1966 - 1976 - Treasurer
1967 - 1968 - Station Captian
1969 - 1970 - Assistan Chief
1974 - 1975 - Chief

 

Congratulations Robert & Stephanie (9-19-08)

 

Congratulations to Deputy Chief Robert Sponheimer and his new bride Stephanie, the happy couple was married on Friday September 19th. The officers and members of the Nottingham Fire Department wish the Sponheimer's a happy honeymoon and the best of luck in their future together.

 

 

 

 

PPD Sgt. McDonald Funeral (09-30-08)

Thousands of police officers, firefighters and the general pubic attend the funeral services for Sgt. Patrick McDonald on Tuesday September 30, 2008 at the Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem.  Sgt. McDonald was killed in the line of duty Tuesday September 23, 2008 protecting the citizens of Philadelphia. This was the fourth Philadelphia Police Officer killed in the line of duty in the past 11 months.  Our hearts and prayers are with members of the Philadelphia Police Department.

NFD Open House 10/11/08

The Nottingham Fire Department Annual Fire Safety Day (Open House) was held on Saturday October 11th and once again it was a huge success.  Nearly 1,000 people attended this years event and were treated to a wonderful day.  The NFD would like to thank everyone who attended including the following special guests:  Bensalem Police K-9, Bensalem EMS, Penn Star Medical Helicopter, Mayor DiGirolamo, State Representative DiGirolamo, Public Safety Director Fred Harran, Fire Marshal Jay Scanlon, Carrabba's Italian Grill, Lower Bucks Red Cross, PA Masons, National Massage Therapy Institute, Kremer Laser Eye Center and all the NFD family members who worked the Alex Lemonade Stand. 

 

 

Special Visitor Stops by the Open House 10/11/08

 

The special day was topped off with a special visit from Jude, a local three year old that was rescued by members of the NFD and Bensalem EMS earlier this year.  Jude and his family were treated to a ride on Engine 65, a close up view of Medic 186, a fire department t-shirt, a toy fire truck, and he was named Chief of the Fire Department for the day. 

 

 

 

Bensalem Emergency Managment Drill (11-7-08)

 

The Nottingham Fire Department participated in the Annual Bensalem Township Emergency Management Drill on Friday November 7th.  The drill took place at the Neshaminy Mall and showed just how well Bensalem Emergency Services (Fire / Police / EMS) work together.  The following Departments took part in the drill:  Nottingham FD, Trevose FD, Cornwells FD, Newport FD, Bensalem FMO, Bensalem Police Dept., Bensalem SWAT, Bristol SWAT, Falls SWAT, Bensalem EMS, Bensalem EMA, Bucks County 911, and Bucks County EHS. 

 

 

 

Toy Drive Luncheon (12-06-08) 


Nottingham Fire Department, Bensalem Police Department and Carrabba's Italian Grill hosted a Public Safety Toy Drive Luncheon on Saturday December 6th.  The toys collected will be donated toe families in Bensalem Township.  Thanks to everyone who participated and or donated a toy. 

 

 

NFD’s Christmas Party (12-20-08)

The Nottingham Fire Department held its annual Christmas Party on Saturday Night December 20, 2008 at the Maltese Room.  The 2008 Firefighter of the Year was FF/EMT John Paul Shirley and the 2008 Chief’s Awards went to FF/VP Thomas Topley and FF/EMT Mike Sekulski. 

 

 

 

Deputy Chief Robert Sponheimer and Firefighter / Vice President Thomas Topley were honored as Life Members of the Nottingham Fire Department – Sponheimer and Topley received this status after 15 years of service to the department.

 

 

 

 

Santa Claus Comes to Town (12-21-08)

 

The Officers and Members of the NFD assisted Santa Claus on his annual trip through the neighborhoods of Nottingham’s first due. Over a thousand can goods were collected and donated to a local food bank and kids of all ages were extremely excited to see Santa atop Engine 65.
